Every day in Ukraine, thousands of attempts to defraud via the Internet take place. The statistics are relentless: 83% of all fraudulent transactions in 2024 occurred online, and 93% of losses are attributable to these schemes. At the same time, the average size of an illegal transaction is growing – already 4761 hryvnias, and this is +51% in just one year.

New Generation Fraud

Today, when we hear the word "fraudster," our perception has to change. This is not a person in a balaclava scrounging around an ATM. This is a professional manipulator. His tools are psychology, social media, and artificial intelligence .

Phishing sites look like real banking sites. The messages look like they come from government agencies. And the worst part is the voices. Deepfake can already reproduce the voice of your loved one. "Mom, I'm in trouble, send me money." And you do. Because how can you not believe your own voice? In such cases, the best solution is to simply call your loved one back to make sure they are actually okay.

This example is social engineering, which is the source of 84% of all losses incurred by citizens who have fallen into the grip of fraudsters.
