Ozzy Osbourne was both the world's greatest and most atypical rock star. He drank, did tons of drugs, quarreled with his colleagues, and sometimes behaved vilely, but his talent pulled him through everywhere and always. Until the very end.
Rock music is no longer a music of protest, counterculture, and challenge; the old stars have become well integrated into the mainstream and have learned to successfully monetize nostalgia for the past. It's even strange to listen to the "monsters of classic rock" in 2025, because their hits sound so openly naive and at the same time full of unnecessary pathos.
The monsters themselves also turned into caricatures of themselves, trying to preserve their own image, invented in the 70s.
