President of Poland Karol Navrotsky vetoed laws that were to extend temporary protection and social assistance to Ukrainian refugees – tens of thousands of Ukrainians risk losing their legal status and payments.

The Sejm may still pass a compromise law and retain support, but Navrotsky's political game is aimed at mobilizing his electorate, analysts believe.

Another initiative of the Polish president serves the same purpose – to equate "Bandera symbols" with Nazi and communist ones, and ban them.
